The Magician’s Hat
What to do:
- Place three different felt pictures on the flannelope. Have the children tell you what they are. Count them.
- Turn the flannelope around towards you and take one picture away.
- Turn the flannelope back around and ask the children which thing “disappeared.” Count the remaining items.
Variations:
- Use more items with older children. *Top hat flannelope: Out of black felt, cut out a large “top hat” shape and glue to a large manila envelope, with the opening at the bottom of the hat. To use, slide your hand inside the envelope and manipulate by turning your hand.
