What to do:

Children of this age talk like they are sending a telegram – using one- or two-word
sentences. This activity is designed to expand their telegram into a whole
sentence. When a child says something, expand it. For example:

Child: “Me Go” You: “You want to go in the car?”
Child: “Me Cookie” You: “You want a cookie?”
Child: “Dog No” You: “The dog should not sit on the couch. Get down,
Rover.”
