Sound Cards

What to do:

  1. You need safety pins or masking tape, file cards with pictures of birds and animals such as ducks, roosters, baby chicks, lions, donkeys, cows, cats, dogs, etc.
  2. Have a card taped or pinned on you before the children enter the room. When they ask questions, talk about the sound your card makes. Practice it with children.
  3. Ask who would like a card of his or her own. Pin cards on the children. Talk about the animal and the sound it makes. Imitate each sound with the group.
  4. Play a game where one of the children makes an animal noise and the child with that animal’s picture card stands up and says, “That’s me, I’m a ________.”
