Pumpkin Patch Pictures
What to do:
This activity is especially fun in the autumn following a visit to a pumpkin patch.
- Let the children paint a piece of brown or beige construction paper with glue.
- Give each child several cotton balls to roll in a shallow pan of dry orange tempera for use as pumpkins and supply several lengths of green yarn to be twisted around and among the pumpkins like a creeping vine.
- This may be a difficult activity for some children, so don’t worry about how the picture looks. The fun is in the creating!
This can be a messy activity, so be sure children wear aprons.
Variation:
- The same type of activity can be used all year round. For example, you can make snowflakes in the winter, birds in the spring, rain in the summer, or leaves in the autumn.
