Listening Lotto

What to do:
- Tape record a series of interesting sounds that are familiar to young children, such as dogs barking, babies crying, doorbell or telephone rings, the dishwasher or washing machine, etc.
- Prepare game boards by drawing pictures or using stickers to match each of the sounds on your tape recording. Be sure to randomly arrange the pictures so that you have about four different cards. Sample game board patterns are included in this packet.
- Tell children that they need to listen carefully to the tape. When they recognize a sound that goes with a picture on their game board, they are to place a game piece on their lotto card.
- For very young children, use few pictures (two or three) and sounds that are very distinctive. For older children, use more pictures and sounds that are similar.
