Junk Necklaces
What to do:
- Supply children with a collage tray of odds and ends that can be strung. Include items such as geometric-shaped cardboard pieces (e.g. circles, triangles, squares, etc.), large-holed buttons, plastic discs cut from plastic meat trays and punched for threading, plastic straws cut in various lengths, etc.
- A stringing needle may be made on one end of a yarn length by wrapping the end with tape, or by dipping 1-inch of yarn into glue and letting it dry before use.
Variation:
- Allow older children to find items to use for stringing.
