Favorite Pets Poll
What to do:
- Ask a group of four children which they like best, dogs, fish, or cats.
- Write each child’s name in the box next to the animal she or he likes best.
- Count the number of names in each row. Write the number in the last box in the row.
- Then say to the children, “Which animal is the favorite? Which animal is their least favorite?”
- Explain that favorite means the animal with the most names (biggest number in the box).
Variations:
- Use more animals or different animals.
- Have all children participate by raising their hands when you ask which they like best.
- You may have to remind some children to only vote for one favorite animal.
