Colored Celery
What to do:
- Place single stalks of celery, leaves and all, stalk side down into a cup with water an inch or two deep.
- Ask children to add a few drops of food coloring into the water, and allow the stalks to sit.
- Check after half an hour or so to see how the colored water is being carried around in the celery.
- Link these observations to veins and blood in people.
- The wild flower Queen Anne’s Lace can also be used if it’s summer.
