For something different, broil or bake open-faced sandwiches.
- Let the children help put their sandwiches together. Let them choose and arrange the ingredients on the bread.
- Talk about the different ingredients as they are making their sandwiches. Ask what will happen to the bread, cheese or tomato when it is in the oven.
- Bake or broil the sandwiches in the oven (adults only). Cool before serving.
- Encourage the children to clean up the work area and table after eating. They learn important self-help skills and cooperation from these kinds of activities.
