What to do

1. Now is a good age to begin reading with babies. Choose baby books with simple, colorful pictures and sturdy pages. They will chew on the pages. 2. Sit baby comfortably on your lap.
2. As you turn the pages, name the picture and talk about it. “Look at the doggie—see the doggie. Ooh—touch the doggie.” Stop reading before baby gets squirmy.
